My Story
Hello, I’m Trixie Primrose — the artist behind The Paper Primrose.
I create paper botanicals that celebrate the quiet beauty of nature, the slow pace of handmade work, and the meaning that flowers can hold.
I didn’t know it at the time, but this journey began years ago after I experienced an injury that changed the way I used my dominant hand. The pain and frustration from it eventually stopped me from making art entirely.
Then, on a gentle whim, I made a single paper flower for my daughter, a small creative gesture I didn’t expect to lead anywhere. But that moment quietly reopened something in me and grew into something grounding and joyful.
Paper gave me a new way to create, gentle on my hands, forgiving in its pace, and full of possibility. I fell in love with the meditative pace of working with paper, and the way flowers can hold stories , of celebration, memory, or simple appreciation.
My work is so much more than replication; it’s about interpreting the natural world, its fleeting softness, and the feeling it leaves behind. Through thoughtful commissions and small, heartfelt workshops, I invite others to slow down and reconnect with the joy of creating..
Whether you’re here to explore my flowers, attend a workshop, or simply take in something made with care, I’m so glad you’ve found your way here.
With love,
Trixie
Sustainability
I believe in creating beauty that honours the natural world, not only in form, but in the way it’s made.
While fresh flowers are often seen as eco-friendly, traditional floristry still faces real challenges, from plastic packaging and non-biodegradable floral foam to the high carbon footprint of imported blooms. And while the industry is slowly shifting toward more sustainable practices, I’ve chosen a different path.
My paper botanicals are slow-made by hand, designed to last for years rather than days. Each piece is dyed in-studio using natural pigments where possible, and I do my best to source non-toxic, mindful materials from suppliers who share my values. It’s not always perfect, but it’s deeply intentional.
This practice allows me to honour the beauty of nature without taking from it, and to offer florals that feel meaningful, enduring, and kinder to the earth.
More than anything, this work is about creating a better future, not just for my daughter, but for all children who will inherit the world we shape today.
